It’s no secret that most of today’s technology isn’t exactly built to last forever, and new product models are regularly sold to replace failed items. But Apple, which is famous for introducing new products every September, is taking new steps to allow people to repair their devices. Apple has launched parts and tools for iPhone 16, including Plus, Pro, and Pro Max.
Now, if something isn’t working with your iPhone 16 model, you can head over to Apple’s self-service repair store and possibly get what you need to fix it. Select your product type and model, then choose your iPhone 16 back glass, battery, camera, top speaker, TrueDepth camera, SIM tray, and more. Apple’s iPhone 16 should be easier to repair than its predecessor, scoring a 7/10 on iFixit’s repairability scale compared to the iPhone 15’s 4/10.
You can get a kit or just the parts you need. Prices vary depending on the phone model. For example, a battery and screw kit for the iPhone 16 Pro Max costs $119, while the regular iPhone 16 costs $99. If you return the replaced parts later, you can get a significant amount back from the kit price. For example, the iPhone 16 Pro Max drops to $61.88 if you return the old battery.
Apple created a self-service program in 2022 to give customers access to physical Apple parts when something breaks on their device. However, Apple states that the service is “intended for individuals with knowledge and experience in repairing electronic devices, who are comfortable with the complexities of repairing electronic devices.” Therefore, if you or someone you know is not familiar with replacement, repair may not be so accessible.
