The genre-defining publication Metal Hurlant returns to English as a quarterly anthology published by Humanoids. Today, AIPT is able to share a preview of “Guerre” by Philippe Drouillet. Each volume of Metal Hurlant is a massive literary experience of over 272 pages. Humanoids’ ambitious venture was funded through Kickstarter and released as part of the internationally renowned publisher’s ongoing 50th anniversary celebrations.
Philippe Drouillet is a cartoonist and writer known for his innovative approach to visual design. In the United States, he is best known for his graphic adaptation of Michael Moorcock’s hit fantasy series Elric Returns to Melnibone and his heavy metal works such as City of Flowers.

Los Angeles, November 11, 2024 – In 1974, filmmaker, author, mime, and poet Alejandro Jodorowsky is in Paris working on Frank Herbert’s novel Dune, with help from Mobius on concept art and storyboards. He was working on making it into a movie. HR Giger and Dan O’Bannon. At the same time, Möbius, along with fellow rebellious bande dessinée creators Jean-Pierre Dionnet and Philippe Druillet, pushed the boundaries of the medium of comics, creating mature, intelligent, and often We wanted to tell an exciting story. Metal Hurlant is their brainchild, a cutting-edge comics anthology published under their newly founded publishing company, Les Humanoides Associés (Humanoids). The magazine took the sci-fi world by storm and featured the creations of future artists, including filmmakers like Jemaine Clement, Guillermo del Toro, George Lucas, Hayao Miyazaki, Ridley Scott, Denis Villeneuve, and Taika Waititi. This caused ripples that became a catalyst for the Nicolas Winding Refn and musicians such as Air, Daft Punk and Hans Zimmer. Jodorowsky’s Dune never materialized, but he and Möbius created the groundbreaking series Incal within the pages of Metal Harland. The series later became the best-selling science fiction comic of all time, and is now being adapted for the big screen by Taika. Waititi.

Archival material of the original works of Metal Harland in France. Things that have either never been published in English or have been out of print for decades. It includes rare short stories from Möbius, as well as content from Metal Harlant founders Philippe Drouillet and Jean-Pierre Dione.
