Ultimate Comics is about to enter its second year, and to celebrate, Marvel Comics is debuting some brand new foil covers. The industry’s best-selling comic of 2024, a new one-year foil edition drawn by acclaimed cover artist and Pixar animator Benjamin Hsu, is the 13th installment of all Ultimate titles, including Ultimate Spider-Man, Ultimate Black Panther, and Ultimate. It will debut in the issue. X-MEN, and Ultimate – Marvel Comics’ new take on the Avengers.
Hsu’s work includes serving as animation director on Elemental (2023), as well as acclaimed hits such as Turning Red (2022), 9 (2009), and Brave (2012). This includes working with the animation department of the film. For more information, please see the official Marvel press release below.
Earlier this year, Jonathan Hickman and Marco Checketto kicked off Marvel Comics’ new Ultimate Series with Ultimate Spider-Man #1. This is a visionary take on Marvel’s most iconic character, setting the standard for the first wave of Ultimate titles, including Ultimate Black. Panther, Ultimate X-Men, Ultimate. Each series captivates readers’ imaginations, and to celebrate a year of extraordinary storytelling, issue #13 of Ultimate Spider-Man, Ultimate Black Panther, Ultimate X-Men, and Ultimates features a year of acclaimed cover artists. A foil variant cover will be featured. and Pixar animator Benjamin Hsu.
The Ultimate title series will be published every other month in real time. This fast-paced storytelling means that Peter Parker and T’Challa’s lives on Earth-6160 have changed dramatically for the second year. The year-long foil covers for Ultimate Spider-Man and Ultimate Black Panther show them facing their greatest challenges. Watch as Spidey becomes his prey as Kraven embarks on the ultimate hunt, and Black Panther stakes his soul to enlist the aid of the mysterious Sorcerer Supreme in the battle between Wakanda and Moon Knight.
