Google Calendar’s web client has received a fairly significant update, and the app should now be more in line with Google Material Design 3. Buttons, dialogs, and sidebars have been updated to make everything “more modern and accessible.”
The interface typography has been refreshed with a custom design and a “highly readable typeface” has been added to ensure a “fresh feel” while maintaining “legibility and clarity.” Google Calendar now allows users to toggle between light and dark modes to reduce both battery usage and eye strain.
These updates apply to “the entire Calendar web experience.” It includes a task list view, which is useful. However, Google warns that this update may impact the experience of installed Chrome extensions that are activated when you use Calendar. The company recommends “contacting the developers of those extensions to report any potential issues.”
The redesign begins rolling out today, but it may take 15 days or more to reach all users. You know the drill. Available to all Google Workspace customers and individual account holders.
This is the latest update to the Google Calendar experience. The company recently released an app for WearOS. We also released something called Google Essentials. It’s an all-in-one Windows app that bundles the entire company’s services (including Calendar).
