The surprising reason Rob Liefeld will never appear on Dancing with the Stars

It all started innocently enough. Last night, Rob Liefeld sat awkwardly on the side of the couch and tweeted, “Learning how many people I know are watching ‘Dancing with the Stars’ is the biggest disappointment of the night.” Most of the reactions were the kind of ass-kissing you’d expect from celebrity social media. The people who come out of the woodwork and basically declare that they’re not afraid, Rob, they haven’t watched either Dancing with the Stars or The Masked Singer, and for that matter, we’re not afraid. It’s because they relate to the topic and they don’t understand why other people do it. do.

One of the standout responses came from media critic and former The Beat reporter Edward Douglas, who responded: They will contact you eventually :)”. Of course, Rob ignored it and the world continued to spin. Just kidding. Rob retweeted Ed and dropped this bombshell: “Believe me, I turned down Survivor, but they contacted me in 2011, and it was the same situation on The Amazing Race in 2012. It’s never going to happen.”

Trust me, I turned down Survivor. They contacted me in 2011, and Amazing Race in 2012 was the same situation. Never happens. https://t.co/9TnoHwzhyH

Guys, my Wednesday wasn’t ready for this. The main thing I was thinking about today was figuring out when to pick up Absolute Wonder Woman #1 from the shop. Retweets themselves occupy a large part of my brain. Douglas’ tweet was a lighthearted joke, but Rob retweeted it like a company that needs to stay ahead of breaking news, as Rob does. Especially “things that will never happen.” Just in case some of the Survivor and Amazing Race producers think he’s changed his mind a dozen years later, that’s not the case. Never happens.

It’s funny how DWTS drew Rob’s ire last night because you never know what’s going to happen. He was a frequent user of social media and was not one to hold back on his opinions. And I’m not saying that as a bad thing. One of the secrets to the success of his podcast, Robservations, is that he has many opinions and is happy to share them. We don’t know what replies to this tweet will get a ton of retweets, but they’re the mainstay of his Twitter feed. Why reply to a tweet when you can quote it? He’s the guy with both the thickest and thinnest skin in all of comics.

For what it’s worth, I think Rob Liefeld would do a great job of either Survivor or The Amazing Race. Have you seen Rob? Not the Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons. The man is fit. The man is torn! He is in his 50s and has the body that men in their 30s aspire to. Survivor and The Amazing Race are both very physical, and there is no doubt that he excels in both.

Rob Liefeld is perfect!

I’ve never seen him dance, so I don’t know if he’s great on Dancing with the Stars. But he’s athletic and charismatic. He has experience in front of the camera and has a strong personality. Not to mention, there are professional actors in his family. So you’ll probably have access to top-notch choreographers, and you’ll be opening day with better, well, footwork than most of your competitors, so… oh, Rob Liefeld probably enjoys dancing with the stars too. Please. I’m not saying he’ll take it all in, but he’ll definitely outlast Anna Delvey and Eric Roberts. I’d go so far as to say that if Rob Liefeld were on Dancing with the Stars, he would at least be in the top three! But, you know, it never happens.

You know his son Ryan is going to connect him with a great dance instructor.

I didn’t intend for this to be an open letter to Rob Liefeld about agreeing to appear on Dancing with the Stars, but sometimes life takes us in unexpected directions, and now… i am here. Rob, please stop doing that and get real. I would like to vote for you every week. I’m #DancingWithTheRob.

Dancing with the Stars airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on ABC and Disney+. Rob Liefeld’s Twitter account is constantly updated.
