Dolby Atmos has been integrated into movies, home theaters, headphones, and other spaces for more than a decade since its launch in 2012. Now, we’re entering the live theater space for the first time thanks to Kenneth Branagh Theater Company’s production of King Lear. However, it has previously been used for live events such as concerts at Dolby Live in the Park MGM Las Vegas.
Starring Kenneth Branagh has previously used Dolby Atmos as a director for films such as “Belfast.” “Kenneth Branagh’s successful implementation of Dolby Atmos in his films, like his Oscar-winning Belfast, is a testament to the power of artists to immerse audiences in ways never before possible. said Jed Harmsen, head of Dolby’s Motion Pictures and Group Entertainment division. “Our collaboration with Dolby is a groundbreaking initiative that brings Dolby Atmos to the world of stage performance, using intentional sound design to immerse audiences in the world of theater.” he added.
“King Lear” will run for approximately two months from October 26th to December 15th at The Shed Griffin Theater in New York City. Dolby Atmos creates sound effects and music around the audience and above the actors.
