At the Marvel Fanfare Panel at NYCC 2024, Marvel Editor-in-Chief CB Cebulski joins special guests Frank Miller, Charles Soule, Steve McNiven, and Sana Amanat to talk about the legacy of Daredevil Born Again and Marvel I talked with Charlie about the history of . Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio appeared as surprise guests at the end.

Essentially, this turned this entire fanfare panel into a “Daredevil Born Again” panel. This surprised all Marvel fans. Below, we will summarize the contents in chronological order.

Frank Miller talks about his career and Born Again

Miller’s work on Daredevil at the Marvel Fanfare Panel NYCC ’24

The panel began with another guest appearance from Frank Miller, who presented a panel at last year’s Marvel Fanfare event. Frank talks about his childhood growing up in Vermont, his early love of Superman Miller and his affinity for watching Saturday morning cartoons, and later discovering that comic books were everywhere, including at the local pharmacy. He recalled that his father would bring home a comic book and read it to him. The invention of the comic book shop, a popular new idea at the time, completely fascinated him.

“Cartoons were perfect in a way, because they’re the only thing you can do without needing anything but the most basic tools,” Miller recalled during a panel discussion. “If you have a pole point, a pen, and paper, you can make it yourself.”

He talked about how he had wanted to create comics since he was five years old. His first idea, which came to him while watching his mother make bread, was Doughboy, a hero who could punch and stretch.

“Then along came Jack Kirby, Stan Lee, Steve Ditko. Everything changed. We learned how far-reaching Shakespeare’s comics could be. Comics ended their youth. I…and soon I will be finished too.”

Miller recalled his time with Daredevil. According to him, “Everyone else has special abilities, but he has a special disability.”

In explaining the origins of his approach to Born Again, Miller explained that he wanted to strip Murdoch naked and show him his true self. That allowed Frank Miller to reimagine him and get into the heart and soul of the character. The subsequent legacy is a by-product of this approach.

New Daredevil: A Cold Day in Hell

This led to the announcement of the upcoming DAREDEVIL: COLD DAY IN HELL. The comic will be created by Charles Soule and Steve McNiven, who worked together on Death of Wolverine. This is a project they’ve been working on together for four years, and is heavily influenced by Frank Miller’s storytelling style, which is characterized by a level of panels per page that is unprecedented in comic book history.

“Daredevil is older in the books. His powers are based on radiation,” Saul revealed while pitching his story to the audience. “When the story begins, he is old, blind, running a soup kitchen, and settled into his life.”

In describing the inciting incident that begins the story, Saul explained: But when a dirty bomb explodes in Hell’s Kitchen, Matt is suddenly given his powers again, but only temporarily. He has only 72 hours to become a daredevil again and solve this mystery of who planted the bomb. This is a curveball that sets up what it’s like to return to a world you’ve been left behind. ”

Although it’s currently not officially hitting the internet other than social media leaks, a brand new trailer was shown off at this Daredevil Born Again panel at NYCC. From what was shown, the series was incredible, featuring clips of Daredevil meeting the Punisher, Muse, and Kingpin. Also confirmed are appearances from Bullseye, Karen, and Foggy, as well as other additions to the comic, including a possible appearance from the White Tiger, where a man wearing a white suit and golden tiger pendant visits the prison. The possibility of speculation has also been confirmed (still unofficial). I don’t know the context of this scene yet).

The theme of this show is a whole new world for this set of characters. Kingpin and Daredevil know each other, and it seems…they’re struggling to coexist without crossing each other’s lines.

The premise of the official show is as follows.

“Matt Murdock is a highly qualified blind lawyer fighting for justice through his vibrant law firm, while former mob boss Wilson Fisk pursues his own political career in New York. As their past identities begin to emerge, the two find themselves on an inevitable collision course.

It’s clear at the Daredevil Born Again panel that much will be drawn from the original, including a larger role for the character of the popular villain Muse, created by Charles Soule and Ron Garney, as seen in the trailer. It was. Back in 2015 during a run.

For those unfamiliar, Muse is a deranged serial killer with a penchant for committing murders with skill. We’ll have to wait until March 4 to find out how and in what capacity.

Left to right: Sana Amanat, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Charlie Cox at the Marvel Fandom Panel NYCC ’24

Former Marvel editor turned MCU producer Sana Amanat stopped by to talk about the show. Amanat talks about what it was like working on TV, being an editor on Saul’s Daredevil, working on Ms. Marvel and now Daredevil Born Again. talked about.

She opened the panel discussion by clarifying what to expect and that Born Again will not be a direct adaptation. She promised that many of Born Again’s plot lines were already completed in Season 3 of the original Daredevil series, although the thematic spirit of the story would be maintained. She emphasized that the show feels like Daredevil viewers are familiar with, but is entering a new chapter.

Although it wasn’t enough to solidify this as a Daredevil panel, Matt Murdock and the Kingpin himself, Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio, greeted fans with special appearances. They talked about their respective roles in the MCU over the past few years, including Cox’s appearance on She-Hulk and D’Onofrio’s guest appearances on both Hawkeye and Echo.

Here’s what to expect from the upcoming season:

Charlie Cox said of the fan frenzy: “In a strange way, it takes us back to square one.” “The idea is that they trust each other as long as one doesn’t cross the line. It’s a good place to start this season.”

Vincent D’Onofrio continued, “The path they take this season is also connected to their personal lives,” and emphasized the larger role of Vanessa (played by Ayelet Zurer).

When talking about the new suits unveiled at NYCC, Cox and D’Onofrio joked:

“I’m really glad it has three zippers, which means I can pee,” Charlie Cox said.

“I just think it’s funny. It takes three hours to pee,” D’Onofrio continued.

Cox also revealed to viewers that she really hopes one day she can wear the full DD Double D bodysuit on the show and graduate to the next suit.
