It seems like forever ago (2018 to be exact) that Netflix’s Daredevil series was canceled, but the Hell’s Kitchen superhero/lawyer is finally returning. Marvel Studios has announced that Daredevil: Born Again will arrive on Disney+ on March 4, 2025, a little later than previously promised in 2022. The news was revealed during a panel discussion at New York Comic Con featuring returning star Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil). ) and Vincent D’Onofrio (Kingpin).
Born Again was first announced as an 18-episode, two-season order for 2022, including some characters, new faces, and a recast Vanessa Fisk (Kingpin’s wife). Executive producer Brad Winderbaum said earlier this year that the series would enter Marvel canon as part of a “sacred timeline.” This was important because Daredevil and Netflix’s other Marvel TV series (Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist) were always kept separate from the main Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Since the series was cancelled, Charlie Cox’s Daredevil has popped up here and there, most recently appearing in Marvel Studios’ Echo series and catching a brick in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Netflix’s original Daredevil was well-received by critics and viewers alike, so its cancellation was a minor shock. But once the rival Disney+ streaming service launched, it seemed inevitable. Additionally, the show reportedly failed to garner a large audience for Netflix and cost a lot of money to produce.
