Another year, another flagship Qualcomm mobile chip. However, things are reportedly a little different with the company’s latest offering for premium smartphones, the Snapdragon 8 Elite. For one, it uses the Oryon CPU, which debuted last year in the X Elite chips for laptops, according to leaked slides from Videocardz. It also uses a new 3nm process node instead of last year’s 4nm node. This allows Snapdragon 8 Elite to deliver 45% faster single and multi-core performance while using 27% less power than Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
While we’re still waiting for more details on the Snapdragon 8 Elite to be announced at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit later today, there’s still a lot to learn from this single leaked slide. As expected, the company has doubled down on its generative AI capabilities, making the NPU (Neural Processing Unit) 45% faster than before and 40% more gaming performance. According to Videocardz, the 8 Elite can reach speeds of up to 4.32 GHz with two cores and up to 3.53 GHz with six smaller cores.

Considering how impressed we were with the Snapdragon According to Smartprix and Onleaks, early benchmarks for the Snapdragon 8 Elite show a score of 3,025,991 on Antutu, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3’s highest score is around 2.1 million.
