Today is five days before Alan Wake 2’s one-year anniversary, and developers at Remedy Entertainment have announced some great news for players. First, those planning to purchase games on PS5 Pro will be able to enjoy improved quality and performance modes. There will also be a free anniversary update that promises lots of improvements and “cheats.”
The team at Remedy has taken a deep dive into Alan Wake 2’s PS5 Pro improvements, but we’ll keep it brief here. Both Quality and Performance modes rely on Sony’s PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) upscaling method. This allows the quality mode to reach an output resolution of 4K while the rendering resolution is 2,176 x 1,224. Raytracing reflections are turned on, but FPS is only 30. Performance mode, on the other hand, also outputs in 4K, but only at a rendering resolution of 1,536 x 864 and no raytracing. However, the FPS counter reaches 60.
Remedy also claims that the Pro performance mode has improved fog, volumetric lighting, shadow accuracy, and image stability. The company further explains that the PS5 Pro’s Performance mode is superior to the base PS5’s Quality mode in terms of output resolution and visual detail. The rendering details are not exactly the same, but they are nearly the same.
Moving forward to the anniversary update, Alan Wake 2 players (all players, not just PS5 Pro owners) will get improvements like a reverse X-axis for mouse and keyboard, DualSense gyro aiming support, and haptic support for more items. You will be able to enjoy it. Gameplay assist menu. The menu includes “features” such as invulnerability to damage, immortality, unlimited ammo, and never having a flashlight battery die.
I don’t know about you, but that seems like a recipe for disaster and chaos, but that’s what some players want. Remedy Entertainment has improved the game’s accessibility first and foremost, which is welcome for anyone struggling with the control schemes currently available. The anniversary update will be available tomorrow, October 22nd, but the PS5 Pro enhancements don’t have a release date yet.
