On Saturday afternoon at New York Comic Con’s “Jim Lee and Friends” panel, DC announced a new five-issue series between Seasons 1 and 2 of Peacemaker.
Peacemaker: The Vigilante/Eagly double feature! ” debuted in March, with writer Tim Seeley and artist Mitch Gerads responsible for the Vigilante story, along with writer Pat Brosseau, writer Rex Ogle, artist Matteo Lolli, and colorist John Cullies and Brosseau will be involved in the story of Eagly. DC Studios CEO James Gunn will serve as story consultant for the series.
Each story picks up where Peacemaker Season 1 left off, but without the title character. Eagly’s Story finds Christopher breathing fresh air in Alaska with his true best friend, the bird Eagly.
According to the announcement from DC:
While traveling in a small plane, they and other passengers are exposed to gas and pass out. When they wake up, they find themselves being chased for sport by a group of dangerous supervillains… it’s far from the peaceful vacation Chris had envisioned! Little do you know that you have bitten off more than you can chew…
“When[DC editor]Katie Kubert asked me to write a short story for DC’s Strange Love Adventures, I was excited to write the story of Peacemaker,” said screenwriter Rex Kubert. Ogle said of one half of the Eagly (and Peacemaker) double feature. “So to be able to return and co-star with this iconic antihero again (and this time in a miniseries!) is a dream come true.
“One of the things that makes him great is that Peacemaker is fundamentally a hopeless optimist. He makes the world a better place not just for himself but for others. He doesn’t always try to achieve peace in the right way, but he brings an incredible levity to the violence that is always present in our world,” Ogle continued. . “And sometimes we need to laugh at the bad things so we don’t end up crying.”
Artist Matteo Rolli said, “Bringing Peacemaker and Eagly to life in a comic book is like unleashing chaos and heart on every page. Rex captures their funny bond and brings action and I was able to create the perfect combination of humor. It’s obviously fun to draw Peacemaker, but what about drawing a character who doesn’t speak? And this character is harsh and angry by default? What if it was a bird giving that facial expression? That was a whole other challenge, and I didn’t know if I could pull it off without the right kind of script, and luckily Rex did a great job. It’s pure fun to watch their unpredictable dynamic unfold in this new adventure.”
“I write a ton of books and graphic novels for middle school and young adult readers, which I love,” Ogle continued. . Writing Christopher Smith allows him to go for some truly wild adventures, with good old-fashioned violence as well as humor and gratuitous nudity. Peacemaker made my dream of writing the stories I wanted to read as a child come true. ”

Meanwhile, in the vigilante story, Adrian visits Peacemaker’s house, has a drink, and causes an accidental explosion, but Christopher and Eagly are gone. Believing they’ve been kidnapped, he suits up to take revenge on a local criminal organization, but it’s no surprise that they’re simply uninvited on his trip to the Alaskan wilderness.
“I’m in the vigilante era,” artist Mitch Gerads said. “We have 100 Taylor Swift friendship bracelets to trade. They’re in vigilante colors and say ‘vigilante shit.’ Find me at NYCC and join the fun. ”
“Disgusting. Clueless. Probably psychotic. Obsessed with destroying furniture. That’s Mitch Gerads,” said author Tim Seeley. “Oh… wait? You mean you want me to describe vigilante Adrian Chase? Oh, sure. He’s the coolest guy ever and crushes a lot of chicks. Also, he’s awesome A friend and not a serial killer busboy, Peacemaker is lucky to call him ‘brother’ and Mitch and I can continue his horrifying and violent adventures in DC Comics. I’m lucky.”
