At New York Comic-Con on Saturday, Tapas Entertainment and Crunchyroll announced the anime adaptation of The Beginning After the End (TBATE) by TurtleMe, who serves as the series’ executive producer. Currently scheduled for release in 2025, the TBATE anime marks a major milestone as the first large-scale anime adaptation of a webcomic produced in the United States.
“We are very excited to introduce ‘The Beginning After the End’ as an anime, marking an exciting new chapter for both Tapas and this beloved series,” Tapas Entertainment Comics said.・Mike Chu, head of film and television, said in a statement. “This is a great opportunity to share TBATE’s epic story with fans around the world in a whole new way. I can’t wait to see the excitement it sparks in our community and beyond.”
“I’m excited to share that ‘The Beginning After the End’ will be animated on Crunchyroll,” TurtleMe added. “When I first started writing TBATE as a web novel many years ago, I never imagined it would one day reach this point. This milestone would not have been possible without the incredible support from all of my fans along the way. We can’t wait to celebrate the premiere with you, whether you’re a long-time reader or watching for the first time.”
“The Beginning After the End” follows King Grey, a ruler who has been reincarnated into a magical world and now lives as Arthur Raewyn. As he masters spells and battles terrifying foes, Arthur must stay alive, protect those he loves, and discover why he was reincarnated…
After a two-month hiatus, TBATE will reopen on October 19th with tapas, which has been around since 2018. The comic is available in seven languages around the world, with five print issues available through Yen Press, with more to come.
TurtleMe will serve as EP and story supervisor for the animated version, along with Zhu, Kevin Nicklaus of Tapas Entertainment, and Gabrielle Luu of TurtleMe LLC.
