A new trailer for Dune: Prophecy, a new six-episode spin-off series that serves as a prequel to Denis Villeneuve’s recent film, was released on the first day of New York Comic Con.
The new series will premiere on HBO on November 17th at 9pm. Each episode will be available to stream on Max the Sunday after it airs on TV.
The Dune prequel is based on the novel Sisterhood of Dune by Kevin J. Anderson and Brian Herbert, son of Dune author and science fiction writer Frank Herbert. HBO’s new series is set 10,000 years before the rise of Paul Atreides, as the Bene Gesserit begin to seize power.
The film tells the story of two Harkonnen sisters, Valya and Tula, played by Emily Watson and Olivia Williams, who form a sisterhood that inevitably becomes the Bene Gesserit and seek to control and shape the universe. It depicts the social, spiritual, and political order of powerful women. Other members of the cast include Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, and Mark Strong.
