Dynamite Entertainment has announced the cover and story details for Thundercats #10. Issue #10, written by Declan Shalvey and illustrated by Joe Mulvey, is a standalone issue that spotlights some of the legendary villains.
“It’s a real pinch moment to be able to work with a creator like Declan Shalvey on something like Thundercats, which I grew up loving,” said artist Joe Mulvey. “We couldn’t be more proud to work on this issue. The epic action, developments, and emotional moments are sure to please any comic book fan.”
So what is Thundercats #10 about?
Of course, the majority of the series focuses on the “Cats” of the title, but many subsequent issues will see more of the characters in particular, as writer Declan Shalvey continues to flesh out the characteristics of these beloved characters. We are giving special page time. Readers are also meeting all-new characters with the arrival of the blockbuster Calica and the mysterious Apex. Now we’re flipping the tables and putting the spotlight on this myth’s iconic villain.
“I’ve long been a fan of Joe Mulvey’s work and thought this issue was a great opportunity to work with him,” said writer Declan Shalvey. “It’s really exciting to focus the story just on Slice for an issue and have a great artist like Joe introduce him. Joe makes great pages and it’s great for the ThunderCats audience to see that.” I can’t wait.”

Mutants are a fearsome force that has always hunted and fought the Thundercats. Their conflict began in Sundara before its fall. They then found themselves on Third Earth, and from that time on, a dangerous alliance with Mumm-Ra began. Their most insidious member and leader is the slimy slime who stars in ThunderCats #10.
In the climactic ThunderCats #9, the Cats face a brutal attack from mutants. In this sequel, the perspective pauses, flips, and flips from the besieged Thundercats to the attacking mutants. Beginning in the calm before the storm, Slime begins with Thundara reminiscing about her life on Purandar before World War I, which shattered the lives of everyone involved.
Guest artist Joe Mulvey (Happy Hill, Pillar & Pride’s Last Ride) has signed on with Shalvey for this thoughtful tale about antagonists and loss. This issue is both an important entry point into the ongoing story and ever-expanding lore, as well as a one-off issue perfect for spotlighting readers and artists experimenting with the series.
