Image Comics has announced a new ongoing fantasy horror series, The Seasons, from writer Rick Remender, artist Paul Azaceta, and colorist Mateus Lopez. Starting January 15, 2025, the comic follows the Seasons, four sisters whose parents disappeared 10 years ago from the world-renowned Season Detectives. Now the sisters themselves are exposed to predators, and it’s up to the youngest season, Spring, to save the family.

Season #1

Summer, Winter, Spring, and Autumn are the seasonal sisters who are the daughters of the world-famous seasonal detective. Ten years ago, her famous parents disappeared. The sisters were left to raise themselves, forming an inseparable bond. Now, their bond will be tested as the sisters fall prey to an evil force. Their youngest sister, Spring, is their last hope to save them from a fate worse than death. Will Spring be able to put the broken family back together before it’s too late for everyone?

Remender details the story in a press release, naming the villain and mentioning some unintended consequences. “Paul and I have worked tirelessly to create a world that has never been done before,” he says. “Inspired by Hayao Miyazaki, Windsor McCay and Tintin, we wanted to create something fun, moving and heartfelt. Like us, the Sisters of Seasons We hope you find it fascinating. And the mastermind and his goons are devilishly terrifying. Paul and Mateus are some of the most spectacularly vibrant comics you’ll find on the modern market. I offered one of them.”

Azaceta added: “This book is a lot of fun. I think we changed it up a lot. We challenged ourselves and couldn’t be more pleased with the result. It’s these kinds of projects that make me want to get into comics.” It’s something that excites me and drives me to push my art in new directions.” The artist will be speaking at the New York Comic Con panel, “Image Comics Presents: Breaking,” which will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday in Room 406.2. We’ll be talking more about this comic in “Ground.”

Issue 1 will be released with a 1:15 copy incentive of Cover B, a homage to Miyazaki’s Kiki’s Delivery Service by Jordi Lafebvre. Cover C 1:25 Copy Incentive by Kent Williams. Cover D 1:50 Copy Incentive by Wes Craig. Cover E 1:100 Copy Incentive Azaceta Sketch Cover. Check them out along with a six-page preview below.
