After a massive sell-out, Rebellion Publishing has announced a new printing of 40 Years of Scream! November collection. This Treasury of British Comics title sold out almost immediately before it hit store shelves in May.
A cry for 40 years! We’ve collected all 15 issues of the controversial and short-lived weekly spooky horror anthology. The original comic was serialized from March 24, 1984 to June 30, 1984. Despite its popularity among readers at the time, publisher Fleetway remains embroiled in the tabloid’s ongoing campaign against the comics scandal and “disturbing videos” it sparked less than a decade later. He was agitated and cold. ft. and soft canceled it and integrated it into the Eagle Comics revival in September 1984.
The “Archive Collection” represents an interesting and potentially new publishing initiative by Rebellion, as it reprints every issue in its entirety (without advertising) while retaining the color covers and interior pages. It’s not inconceivable to think that this could be an incentive to take a similar approach to other titles in the publisher’s archives, particularly the early 2000 AD Starlord, Misty.
According to Rebellion’s press release:
“The hardcover collection sold out before it hit shelves in May this year, but due to overwhelming popularity it has been reprinted and is now available on the 2000 AD and British Comics Treasure webshops and all good retailers. Scheduled for late November.
“The first issue of Scream, created “from the depths” of King’s Reach Tower by the mysterious “undead” editor Gastly McNasty! More tongue-in-cheek than frightening, the comic was popular among young fans because it included a pair of fake vampire fangs on the cover and a number of great new strips from legendary talents like Alan. It was an immediate hit. Moore, John Wagner, Jose Ortiz, Cam Kennedy, Tom Tully, Alan Grant, and Eric Bradbury. ”
Keith Richardson, Rebellion’s senior graphic novel editor, added:
“Scream!” was such an iconic and beloved title, so it was great to see how many people remembered it and wanted to revisit its amazing story. We’ve received so many requests for a hardcover edition, and we’re thrilled to be able to bring this gorgeous collection to even more people.”
