Weeks after it was reported that Kyle Chandler would play Hal Jordan in the upcoming Lantern live-action series, it was officially announced today that Aaron Pierre has been cast to play fellow Green Lantern John Stewart. Ta. For those unfamiliar with the comics, this character is not related to the Daily Show host of the same name. Pierre is no stranger to the DC Universe, having previously played Dev-Em in the Syfy Krypton series.

The showrunner for the Lantern series is Chris Mundy (Ozark), who will co-write the show with Damon Lindelof and Tom King. This new direction for DC’s iconic heroes definitely seems to be firing on all cylinders since DC Studios, led by filmmaker James Gunn and producer Peter Safran. It all starts with something called “Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters.” The eight-episode series is scheduled to begin filming in Atlanta from January to June. James Hawes will direct the first two episodes and will also serve as executive producer. With any luck, by the next San Diego Comic-Con in July, DC Studios will be hosting its first Hall H panel presentation and showing off some footage.

Back in 2020, Max announced that he was working on Green, which was developed by executive producers and writers Seth Grahame-Smith and Marc Guggenheim, and executive producers Greg Berlanti, Geoff Johns, Sarah Schechter, and David Madden. announced plans for the “Lantern” series. Obviously, these plans were overhauled with the creation of the aforementioned DC Studios.

Nathan Fillion is set to make his debut as fan-favorite GL Guy Gardner in James Gunn’s new Superman movie, and it’s tempting to think the character will appear alongside Aaron Pierre. .
