Silver Sprocket is one of the most exciting publishers of indie comics, and one of the coolest bookstores in San Francisco. Unfortunately, just being exciting and cool doesn’t necessarily pay for itself. After 15 years of publishing their award-winning comics, they started a fundraiser on their website. Rewards include monthly and annual subscriptions, tons of exclusive posters, signed books, and more.
Why do we do fundraising? Well, the announcement says:
To celebrate Silver Sprocket’s 15th year of publishing artist-driven, socially conscious comics that have ultimately won them an Eisner Award, multiple Ignaz Awards, and many other great achievements, we would like to hear from our community. I realized that I needed more support. Serve proudly.
Like many other independent publishers, we are fundraising to keep the lights on at Silver Sprocket headquarters and retail stores. This fundraiser serves as an effort to mobilize our community to support Silver Sprockets, which is sustainable for everyone we have worked with, and where local cartoonists join our team. equipment and resources to help you create your own comics, year-round community events, Pride in Panels, and other initiatives. : We support the Queer Comics Festival and everyone who works at Silver Sprocket (15+ employees) to make it sustainable. These efforts are not about profit, and we don’t want that to be the case. Everything we do is central to our mission of supporting indie comics and communities above all else.
Silver Sprocket is a grassroots organization, so grassroots fundraising seems to be right in its nature.
Artists who contributed to this effort with prints include Lemony Snicket, Michael DeForge, Julia Wirtz, Katie Skelly, Caroline Cash, Jen Woodall, Ashley Robin Franklin, Alex Crokes, and Eddie Atoms. Included. More stretch goals may be established as the campaign evolves.
The main driver of this campaign is subscriptions to Silver Sprocket comics (they’re all great, so buy with confidence). Print subscription is $39.99/month, digital only is $14.99/month. With subs you get:

Silver Sprocket plays a major role in both local and global communities. We hope this campaign will be a great success. This isn’t really for one store or one publisher. It’s about keeping alive the whole spirit of comics as an important punk art form.
