The Green Lantern Corps is in a world of hurt and an abnormality on the emotional spectrum. These are some terrifying moments, and they’re all compiled into the Green Lantern Civilian Forces special. A preview will help you see and cover the return of the popular lantern right from your page. While I’m happy to see Kilowog return, I’m also very curious as to why he’s wearing a Sinestro Corps uniform with the Green Lantern logo on it. We’ve seen in Adams’ Green Lantern series that the Lantern can change colors and emotions, so that’s not a big surprise. But how much control does Kilowog have? Whatever the answer to that question, Kilowog ends up giving John Stewart the hell out of it, resulting in the bad guy getting his hands on quite a few artifacts.

This issue continues to move things forward and have your characters fall into place on missions. I appreciated the players I saw in this issue, but that only makes the cost of participation even higher for the Lanterns who aren’t featured. There are two characters carried over from Absolute Power, and we’re happy to see them in this special. I hope they continue to stay after this story. I appreciate how Johnson and Adams weave the story together. I haven’t read War Journal, so I’m a little lost on that part, but I wonder how lost people would be if they hadn’t read Green Lantern. However, I doubt you would be reading this feature if you hadn’t read the main series, so a little summary of the events from War Journal would have been nice.
On the art side, Salvador Larroca and Luis Guerrero are committed to delivering action and drama. Larocca had quite the challenge of different locations and body language. The action scenes are important because the characters’ poses match the situation, but the calmer moments are slowed down and when you look closely at the art, you notice that it seems more intense than it needs to be. Larocca has been in the industry for a long time, so it might be helpful to have someone come and ink his work to make corrections. Guerrero doesn’t miss out on the action in a variety of colors.

DC’s All In is a nice refresh and looks like it will lead to rewards for readers of both Lantern series. However, a small mistake in the opening game slowed down their momentum. Maybe it’s because I haven’t read both series, but these types usually find a way to engage their readers, so it’s going to be tough for people who want to give Green Lantern a try. I hope the next part builds on the foundation laid here and brings important results to the Dark Star Ring and the Emotional Spectrum.

As someone who has read Green Lantern, I’m excited for this big showdown and can’t wait to see more Lanterns join the fight.
After Absolute Power, one character returns and two remain. I’m glad some of the better elements remain in the mythology.

It seems natural for readers to read both series, but this could be detrimental to those who decide to go all-in on Lantern.
