Amazon’s second Prime Day of the year is here. Some of the deals also apply to Kindle e-readers. Unfortunately, the standard Kindle is currently out of stock, as are several other models. This could suggest a new Kindle device is coming, but we don’t know for sure on that yet.

In our e-reader buying guide, we acknowledge the fact that Amazon is the dominant force in this world. But even the newest Kindle, Kindle Scribe, is nearly two years old at this point. Kindle rivals Kobo and Boox both have color models, so we can only hope that Amazon will introduce similar models in the near future. Still, unlike tablets and smartphones, Kindle readers are meant to do one thing well. It’s all about displaying text on a screen that’s easy on the eyes without distractions. And all three models on sale do that very well. Here are October’s Prime Day Kindle deals (all three).

Amazon Kindle dominates the e-reader market and currently has four models to choose from. Of course, there’s a good chance we’ll see a new Kindle. Rumors suggest as much, and the last entry in the lineup was launched over two years ago. However, e-readers are not as technology-intensive as tablets, so the generational difference may not make as much of a difference. What you buy today should perform its basic function (displaying crisp text) for years to come. Here are the best Prime Day Kindle deals.

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite for $125 ($25 off): Paperwhite is an upgraded Kindle that adds a larger display, adjustable warm light, and waterproof construction. The flash front screen makes page turning easier, and the faster processor makes it even faster.

Amazon Kindle Scribe $255 ($85 off): With this tablet, you can write as well as read. It features a large 10.2-inch display, auto-adjustable warm front light, and auto-rotating display. It comes with a Basic pen so you can use the Notes feature to convert your handwriting into text.

Amazon

The kids’ Kindle is basically the same as the “adult” Kindle, but it comes with cover, an extended warranty, and a free trial of Amazon Kids+, which gives you access to audiobooks, stories, and more for kids. Additionally, there are no ads on the lock screen (Amazon makes you pay $20 for that perk on standard devices).

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Kids for $115 ($55 off): The upgraded Kids Edition of the Paperwhite e-reader features a flush-front design, waterproof construction, and a warm front light for late-night reading. Comes with cover, 2-year warranty, and 1-year kids subscription.
