Tesla stops selling its cheapest car

Tesla’s cheapest car has disappeared from the market. Model 3 Standard Range Rear Wheel Drive is no longer available in the online configurator. Electrek was the first to report that the Model 3 build was missing. It was the least expensive option among the electric car brands, priced at $39,000. Now, the Model 3 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive takes that title with a retail price of $42,500. Tesla announced updates to its three model lines in the United States in January.

The company also announced today its third quarter figures, with 462,890 vehicles delivered from July to September. Sales for the quarter were buoyed by price reductions and other incentives, enough to increase deliveries by 6.4% from a year earlier. However, this number was lower than analysts expected for more than 469,000 deliveries during the same period. The quarterly results could also thwart CEO Elon Musk’s prediction that the company will deliver more than 1.8 million vehicles in all of 2023.

Tesla continues to struggle with recall issues this year. Most of these issues have been fixed with over-the-air updates, but the scope and number of issues may have left customers in doubt. 200,000 vehicles were affected in January, 2 million in February, 125,000 in May, 12,000 in June, 1.8 million in July, and 9,000 in August. It became more than 1000 yen.
