Perhaps I wax lyrical not only about Final Fight, Capcom’s 1989 arcade title, which has been my favorite game ever since its release, but also about the comic book version of this video game being developed by UDON. You’ve probably seen me talk about it. If you haven’t yet, check out my review of issue 1.
And now, the first issue is officially available for free download as a PDF from publisher UDON Studios. Click here.
Granted, it doesn’t have the same tactile feel as holding the comic’s stunning action in your hands, but if you want to at least give it a try and see why it’s the perfect video game adaptation, it’s a great option.
I’ve long been a huge fan of UDON’s comics, especially Capcom’s video game adaptations. They’re unashamedly creepy, gorgeously illustrated and action-packed, action-packed exercises in adapting material built to maintain a coherent story, put together with an obvious love for the game. I am.
Highly stylized, unpretentious fun is always a good thing in my book, and now you can check out the opening chapters of Final Fight for free. It’s cheaper than playing the original arcade game. It doesn’t get any more fair than that, does it?
