$6 million fine for robocalls from fake Biden

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has officially issued the full recommended fine to political consultant Steve Cramer. This comes after it used deepfake AI technology to launch a series of robocalls to New Hampshire residents with a pre-recorded audio of President Biden’s voice. Fake Biden told voters not to vote in the upcoming primary, saying, “Your vote will make a difference in November, not this Tuesday.” Kramer must pay a $6 million fine within the next 30 days, or the Department of Justice will collect the fine, the FCC said in a statement.

Kramer won’t just be fined. He also faces criminal charges. New Hampshire Attorney General John M. Formella announced that he will face multiple charges of voter suppression and impersonating a political candidate.

It wasn’t a very difficult process either. Kramer hired New Orleans magician Paul Carpenter to create the fake recording. Carpenter showed NBC News how he created a deepfake audio file using Eleven Labs. Apparently it took about 20 minutes.

In a sudden (and short!) event yesterday, Samsung announced new additions to its portfolio of devices, including the Galaxy S24 FE and Galaxy Watch FE LTE. The highlight will be the new Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra tablet. The Tab S10 series adds features like Circle to Search and Sketch to Image to the company’s flagship S24 phones. Features that work with the S24 Ultra’s S Pen are also here, such as handwriting assist and note assist. Software is the big draw this year, with the Tab S10 Ultra featuring a 120Hz 14.6-inch screen with an anti-reflective finish and a MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ processor instead of the usual Qualcomm chip. The Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra will start at $1,200 for the 256GB model. Pre-orders are now open and the tablet will be released on October 3rd.

Inexpensive products such as noise canceling, workout etc.

Nowadays, it’s very possible to find a clean-sounding, feature-rich pair for well under $100, but of course there are also plenty of poor-quality earbuds out there. We selected the best products, including those with noise-cancelling features. Let’s hope to see some talented shoots from Anker, Jlab, and even Amazon.
