According to Reuters, Meta has signed deals with several actors, including Kristen Bell, John Cena and Judi Dench, to use their voices for the Meta AI chatbot. Users will be able to converse with the chatbot while hearing answers in the voices of their favorite celebrities. Other celebrities in the mix include Awkwafina and Keegan-Michael Key, a source told Reuters.
In addition to those five voices, the source said there will also be more general voice options if users prefer them. All voices will be available in the U.S. and other English-speaking countries this week, but the source declined to say which other regions will be available.
The news follows reports last month that Meta was in talks with actors to secure the rights to use their voices in AI projects. Now, deals have reportedly been made, and those celebrities’ voices could soon be featured in chatbots found when using Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp. The company had hoped to finalize the deals before its Connect conference, where Reuters sources say the new voice options are expected to be announced.
