The inspiring 2011 indie game To the Moon will soon be playable on Xbox Series X/S and PS5. Developer Freebird Games and publisher Serenity Forge announced this week that the console port will be released on October 8th for $10. At the same time, they’ve released a new addition to the series: “Just a To the Moon Series Beach Episode,” a short story that features one of the series’ endings, available now on Steam.
To the Moon is a time-traveling adventure that follows two doctors who develop a way to travel back in time into the minds of dying patients to help them achieve their greatest dreams. The story centers around an elderly patient named Johnny, whose final wish is to go to the moon. Originally released on PC, the game has garnered love over the years, eventually making its way to mobile and the Nintendo Switch.
Freebird Games has released another episode called “Finding Paradise,” which focuses on a different patient, and a time-traveling murder mystery called “Imposter Factory,” as well as a heartwarming short called “A Bird Story.” All of them will bring you to tears. The developers describe the latest “Beach Episode” as the “final half” of the series.
