With just a week to go until the release of a new update for Mortal Kombat I (MK1), which brings new character skins, new finishing moves, and (finally) a new fighter to the “combatant” selection screen, NetherRealm Studios has released a preview of Carnage “running” around a “corner” (okay, no unnecessary Ks).

A new trailer released on Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon’s X-page shows off some of the new features MK1 players can expect in the Khaos Reigns pack and upcoming updates, due to be released on September 24th. The base game will cost $49.99 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on Steam, and $39.99 on Nintendo Switch. The Khaos Reigns DLC will cost (surprise!) $49.99 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on Steam, and $39.99 on Nintendo Switch. The Khaos Reigns Kollection bundle, which includes the Khaos pack and base game, will cost $89.99 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and $69.99 on Nintendo Switch.

The MK1 add-on adds an all-new story mode to the game, in which the newly deified Liu Kang battles the evil Titan Havik alongside his band of warriors and the defenders of EarthRealm. The new pack also comes with “Kombat Pack 2,” featuring new warriors including cyborgs Cyrax and Sektor, and shadow assassin Noob Saibot, available on launch day.

The pack will also give you access to Ghostface from the Scream films, the T-1000 voiced by Robert Patrick, and Conan the Barbarian, once released. For those who can’t wait for the release date or don’t want to sit through the entire trailer for even a moment, X has released footage of one of Ghostface’s fatal blows. The video sees the infamous Scream villain disembowel his enemy with the help of another Ghostface killer, and it’s a loving homage to Scream VI, which starred Jenna Ortega and Hayden Panettiere.

MK1 also brings back an all-time favorite finisher called “Animalities,” which first appeared in the arcade game Mortal Kombat 3. Every fighter in the game has a finishing move where they transform into an animal and vivisect their opponent in various creative ways. Boone shared a clip of Animalities, in which Kitana transforms into a giant, bloodthirsty hummingbird and turns her opponent into a bloody, fleshy flower.
