Capcom has updated the mobile ports of several Resident Evil games to require an internet connection when opening the apps: As Eurogamer points out, the patch notes for the latest Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil 4, and Resident Evil Village updates state, “Due to changes to the launch process, this app now requires an internet connection when launching.”It’s unclear why Capcom added this requirement, but it sucks. Anyone on a plane without Wi-Fi or wanting to sneak in a game while camping in a remote area will no longer be able to play these games on their phone or tablet.…
Comixology Originals announced a new graphic novel this week from writer Michael Conrad, debut comics artist Nathan Auten, letterer Kyle Ahrens and editor Zane Barrow, which will be released in print by Dark Horse Books next spring. Neptune has been described as a “tale of revenge and redemption” that Conrad says borders on horror. “It’s not easy to continue books like Tremor Dose and Double Walker, and I remain very proud of those two stories,” says Conrad. “With Neptune I wanted to rip something out of the headlines and put it into a graphic novel, and the result feels less…
The Surreal Touch Kickstarter campaign has been successfully funded. The Surreal Touch controllers were first announced back in July. A Kickstarter campaign was launched last week with a $50,000 goal, and to date has raised nearly $90,000 from 330 backers. What is Surreal Touch and who makes it? The Apple Vision Pro’s gaze-and-pinch interaction system can feel almost telekinetic at times, making watching media and simple interactions a breeze, but the lack of trackable controllers means it’s not suited to many of the types of games and experiences you can play with other headsets.Surreal Touch is a self-tracking controller designed to…

When she and her friends sign up for an open martial arts tournament, Mei’s enthusiasm threatens to get her – and her friends – into some serious trouble. This is a really fun comic from indie creator M. Jacob Alvarez (who self-published Mae the Master and many other titles under HypnoSpiral Comics) and the writing is packed with great humor, with lovely, unique artwork and a relentlessly fast-paced story that draws you in right…
Boom Buster recently hit Kickstarter, with Switch support confirmed in the final hours of the campaign. The game has already reached its funding goal of $50,000. With a stretch goal of $70,000, it was unclear whether there would ever be a Switch port, but the campaign ended just above that amount. While the project likely won’t be completed for at least two years, Nintendo fans can look forward to it in the future. As for the game, Boom Buster is a hand-drawn platform adventure that takes inspiration from the early 2000s, including the music, with the development team having in mind classics…
Pluto Dinerama is a cooperative/competitive board game set in a quirky retro-futuristic diner in space. 2-5 players compete to serve the most customers and outlast unscrupulous rival corporate diners. In the game, you’ll manage resources, hire staff, and improve your diner’s facilities to attract a variety of alien patrons. A game can take 60 minutes or more. Each round presents new challenges and opportunities as players navigate the diner’s bustling atmosphere, trying to balance speed and quality of service. We are reviewing a copy provided to us by the game designer. This is a prototype, i.e. pre-Kickstarter version, of the…
Image credit: Marvel/Images/Hasbro 1984 was a big year for pop culture icons, especially characters whose names, for some reason, started with T or G. Among other big franchises, The Terminator, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Ghostbusters, and Gremlins all debuted in 1984 and are still around 40 years later. And of course, there’s another creation that starts with a T: Transformers. Hasbro brought Transformers to the West, a repackaging of several different Japanese toy lines, and asked Marvel to help with naming the characters and creating a legend that would tie the different characters together. Although the Transformers animated series is…
A third-party supplement to the Shadowdark RPG that brings untold chaos to a local town. With Venger’s sudden departure from the OSR publishing world, the Shadowdark RPG Kickstarter The Shucked Oyster: A Cursed Brothel has suddenly taken on a new level of prominence. Looking at the title alone, this is the kind of content you’d expect from V. Unfortunately, this isn’t Venger’s work, as he’s not a huge fan of Shadowdark, but this would have been a hell of a crossover ;)The Shucked Oyster Kickstarter is available in 14 books in PDF, 24 books in PDF and softcover POD, and 34…
The publisher will publish Weetago War Loss Book 1, an Indigenous horror epic by Richard Van Camp and Christopher Shye, described as “an Indigenous twist on a Walking Dead-style tale, deeply rooted in Dene lore” and “a new take on the apocalyptic zombie/monster tale, based on stories passed down for hundreds of years.” For more information, please see: “Never call their names out loud unless there is snow on the ground. The more they eat, the hungrier they become, and they starve.” “It’s the Native American walking dead!” They were meant to remain in peace, strewn with severed limbs and…
Storm King Comics has announced their latest project, John Carpenter’s Night Terrors: Blood of the Taken. The story focuses on a new vampire legend, a wandering vampire of old who roams the night in search of blood, but this vampire carries with him an undead heart that can only be filled with love.
