As the temperatures drop, there are more excuses to stay indoors and immerse yourself in your favorite games. If you’re a computer gamer who’s been looking to upgrade your setup for the weather, now could be the perfect time. Right now, 8Bitdo’s Ultimate C Wired Controller is on sale for just $15, 25 percent off $20. This sale makes the controller available at its lowest price ever, $1 cheaper than Prime Day.The discounted 8Bitdo Ultimate C wired controller is available in field green or lilac purple (I’m leaning towards the purple one). The controller is compatible with Steam Deck, Windows,…
Ten years ago, Flappy Bird was a big hit among smartphone users, and many spent a long time trying to make this little yellow bird climb higher and higher along the pipe. But it didn’t last long, and it was soon removed from the app store. At Engadget, we were excited by the news last week that Flappy Bird will return to devices in 2025. But there is one person who is not excited: Dong Nguyen, the creator of Flappy Bird. He confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that he is not involved in the new version and does not profit…

E-Ink tablets have always been intriguing to me because I’m a longtime lover of pen and paper. I’ve had probably hundreds of notebooks over the years, serving as repositories for my story ideas, to-do lists, meeting notes and everything in between. However, I turned away from physical notebooks at a certain point because it was just easier to store everything digitally so I always had my most important information at my fingertips. E-Ink tablets seem to provide the best of both worlds: the tactile satisfaction of regular notebooks with many of the conveniences found in digital tools, plus easy-on-the-eyes E-Ink…
Achieving your fitness goals doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated. Keeping track of your progress will be crucial, but not everyone needs to drop hundreds of dollars on the best smartwatches out there. The average affordable tracker might offer just the right tools to help kickstart your health journey, like a heart rate monitor, sleep quality data and so on. And, after testing a number of affordable fitness trackers, I can say with confidence that you might be surprised by how much a $100 (or less) wearable can do — a welcomed treat for those who don’t want to…
Apple announced a ton of new products at its It’s Glowtime event on September 9, but a plastic-shelled Apple Watch SE wasn’t among them. But that doesn’t mean we won’t see one at some point. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who first reported that the company was working on a lower-cost Apple Watch SE, said the plastic SE is “still in development.” Sources told Gurman that it could arrive next year. The Apple Watch SE was last refreshed with the release of the second-generation line in 2022. The rumored upcoming watch is planned to have a plastic shell as well as bolder colors…
Every few years, a core childhood memory resurfaces and I find myself tracking down some weird PlayStation game that my brother and I were obsessed with but never actually finished playing. I search online for a red and black PS1 demo disc featuring a pink-haired wild child taking on pigs and ass-like trees. I discover from the search results that the game I’m looking for is the 1997 platform game Tomba!, and am overcome with nostalgia. Then I forget about it altogether, and the cycle repeats itself. So you can imagine my surprise when a trailer suddenly appeared earlier this summer…
The Polaris Dawn crew returned safely to Earth early Sunday morning, concluding the historic, privately funded mission. The Dragon spacecraft carrying the mission’s four astronauts — Jared Isaacman, Scott Kidd Poteet, Sara Gillis and Anna Menon — splashed down in the Gulf of Mexico at approximately 3:30 a.m. ET.On Thursday, Isaacman and Gillis completed the first commercial spacewalk, taking turns exiting the spacecraft for a series of suit mobility tests. The mission took Gillis and Menon farther from Earth than any women have ever traveled before. Polaris reached a maximum altitude of about 870 miles, the furthest humans have traveled…
Apple’s premium earphones can now be used as full-fledged hearing aids. (Apple)Is Apple really preparing a change that could save my elderly mother over $1,500? That’s the promise of the company’s newly announced effort to add true hearing aid functionality to the AirPods Pro. And why, with all due respect to the iPhone 16 and its awesome camera control buttons, it was, to me, the most exciting part of Monday’s keynote. The news couldn’t have come at a better time for me: My 80-year-old mother has finally admitted that her hearing is, so to speak, substandard, and has asked me to…
