Of all the indie publishers of Emerald City Comic-Con, the bad idea was outstanding because of the title’s slate. The official Bad Ideas Panel featuring CEO Dinesh Shamdasani, sales rep Siena Fallon and Jonathan Wayshak have unveiled a slate with high concept titles featuring great creators.Bad Idea’s new slate crown jewel was the death of the planet, co-authored by Derek Kolstad (John Wick, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) and…

If there’s one constant in this year’s Emerald City Comic Con, it’s a dungeon and a dragon. The cast of Baldur’s Gate 3 is in attendance. The stand features highly detailed miniatures and dice, with an entire room carved into the RPG session. However, the “Dungeons, Dragons and Manga, Ah!” panel addressed the main subject of Comic-Con: Manga! Specifically, it was a panel dedicated to the intersection of fantasy and comics. The panel features creators who have all experience in fantasy. Moderator Zack Davisson has translated multiple fantasy-based comics, including Lodoss War’s animated records. G. Willow Wilson may be known for…
Created by Robert E. Howard in 1932, Conan the Barbarian is the protagonist of a series of fantasy stories published in the Strange Tale Magazine. After the author passed away in 1936, many other writers have written works featuring Conan, including films, television and comic books. Considered the father of the sword and magic subgenre, Howard was a troubled man who took away his life at the age of 30 after a family tragedy. Whether this is intentional or not, this seems to inspire the fictional background of Helen in Windawn. Supergirl Reunion: The woman from Tom King and Bilkis…

Written by Amy Chu, along with the art of Andrea di Vito, this five island limited series returns to her days as the White Queen of the Hellfire Club, seeing Emma see her early rise in power. “If there’s one character I always wanted to write about after Poison Ivy, the cycle of life and death, that’s Emma Frost, especially bad Emma Frost,” Chu said. “This will be a whole new storyline that focuses on Emma, set in the…

Massive Indies, a subdistribution program run by Massive Publishing, has announced its first two publishers, Heavy Metal and Devil’s Due. Massive is distributed directly by the lunar distribution, but offers a large indie programme to provide small publishers in the integrated part of the catalog. Both Heavy Metal and Devils dews provide high quality creator material, but this plan seems to make sense for everyone involved, as they have very small lines that the circles struggle to pick up. As explained by Massive CEO Michael Calero, Heavy Metal and Massive have some history. “A few years ago, Heavy Metal teamed…
