D&Q has taken advantage of this year’s Moccafest to debut several new books ahead of the official release date. Guideri Sle’s Muybridge, which hit the retailer on April 29, was prominently displayed on the edge of the table, but according to D&Q staff, the real highlight was Katie Fricas: A colorful tale about a lesbian library worker in New York City who struggles to finish off her epic graphic novel. Check-out will not arrive in stores until…

Bleeding Cool reports that Dark Horse Comics has published a rocky horror picture show comic in time for the 50th anniversary of the cult musical, and will be written by Magdalene Visaggio (Girlmode, Kim & Kim). Visaggio has confirmed the news on Bluesky and says that it is a sequel entitled Bride of Rocky Horror, and that she composed the music for it. Visaggio has established that the above track “Seven Years (It Ain a Seasy)” is set seven years after the film, and says it shares the characters of Brad Majors’ characters (played by Barry Bostwick in the film).…
Keith Knight and Ellen Lindner display blue ribbons! The Si Mocca Fest in New York was another successful event. You can succeed and find others to watch and buy great comics, chat with old friends, or chat with old friends. Once again held at the Metropolitan Pavilion, I have never seen the attendance but passed the “busy” test. Every time I approached the table to chat or check out, I had to wait for someone else to buy/end the chat. This is quite rare at a “regular” comic con. This comic-con is often eager to make eye contact to start…

Comic creator Joe Quesada has resigned to launch his own incredible comic imprint under Mad Cave Studios after more than 20 years in various roles, including editor-in-chief and best creative officer. Despite the new and creative venture, Quesada has not completely said goodbye to Marvel. In fact, for a while, the writer/artist has been quite teasing the new Marvel project for being associated with the Marvel Knights, which many have speculated. Sure enough, the publisher has officially released details of Marvel Knights: The World to Come. Joining Quesada for this Marvel Knights miniseries is author Christopher who, along with Quesada’s…

There are two universal truths in today’s rapidly changing comic industry. The first is that the dog man continues to be the definitive comic of our time. Second, more people than ever read comics and Webtoons (aka vertical scrolling comics). Therefore, in Comic Beat, we continue our strange adventures of Beat. Every week, I recommend three authors some of their favorite books and series from Japan, Korea and more. This week we’re dressing up heroes, mystical libraries, and of course Claudine! go! go! In 2021, Wandering Planet Toys, an independent toy company founded by veteran animation writers Gavin Hiignight and Chris “Doc” Wyatt, launched its first Kickstarter campaign to create retro action figures officially approved based on the cult classic British television series The Prisoner. The campaign was a smash hit and then successfully launched a Kickstarter campaign, which included a second wave of prisoner action figures. This week, March 19th, marks the 97th birthday of prisoner creator and star Patrick McGauhan and appears to be fitting to exclusively announce details of wandering Planet’s Kickstarter campaign for prisoner deluxe action figures. While the…
