Frequent collaborators of writer Jeff Lemia and artist Dustin Nuguen, released in March, are reunited for Robin & Batman: Jason Todd. Today, DC announced the preview page and cover of the first issue. I have previously explored the early career of original Robin Dick Grayson in the 2022 Robin & Batman miniseries. Tackling Jason Todd with Lemia and Nuguen is the logical next step. As teased in the original announcement, the new Robin & Batman: Jason Todd miniseries introduces a mysterious new villain. Their salt-worthy comic fans are well aware of Jason Todd’s infamous reputation in Batman mythology. Jason Todd’s…
Writers Ethan Sacks (Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Old Man Hawkeye) and his daughter, Naomi Sacks are teaming up once again to release an exclusive extended hardcover edition of their critically acclaimed supernatural series A Haunted Girl—this time through Zoop. The campaiogn launches today during World Mental Health Awareness Month, and a portion of the proceeds will go to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The story of a teen girl who is battling depression, suicidal ideation and perhaps supernatural threats, it is based on real life experiences of the family. The Beat spoke with the co-writers ahead of the campaign…

Picking up from this amazing Spider-Man #8-9 event in July and August, this series will give Master Thief Felicia Hardy a try to become a superhero… But is she doing it from the heart or as part of an epic heist? How can we go wrong with the catchphrase that reads “Sword of omens, gives us cuteness beyond the cutest things”? Dynamite’s Thundercats/Powerpuff Girls Crossover Event is set to stand on shelves in store in June. Paulina Gancheau and the creative team of Coleman Engle chatted with a beat about pairing and why this team-up had to happen. Deanna Destito: Why is this crossover so good? Paulina Gancheau: Well, fun is always a good idea. Thundercats x PowerPuff Girls Crossover Book is definitely falling into the fun category! But honestly, that’s how two quirky superhero teams broke together in the magical…
I don’t think it would be controversial to say that the ultimate universe was originally a success. Regardless of your preference, Ultimate Spider-Man and Ultimate X-Men attracted new readers and reinvigorated the interest in comics among many. It can be argued that approaches updating old stories, or fully telling familiar characters and stories of alternative universes, can sometimes be confusing, but generally the stories tended to be interesting. And later books like The Ultimate proved to be the basis for how the Marvel Cinematic Universe merged. I will not deny the book’s impact on the film. (Even if I personally…
This is my review of Thunderbolts*. But it’s going to take a while. At the 2016 San Diego Comic–Con the Marvel booth had a secret: a large object under a concealing curtain. Then, as now, the Marvel booth was a hub of excitement, but in 2016 it was maybe even a bit more excited. In 2016, the MCU was in full bloom, at the height of its powers. Marvel Studios would only release two movies that year – Captain America: Civil War and Doctor Strange, but Civil War was the launch for Phase Three, perhaps the greatest period for any…

These were the ones that caught Colin’s eye for the week of May 7, 2025.Deadpool kills Marvel Universe at the end #2Cover by Davide ParatoreI think there’s a certain degree of celebration every time Capwolf raises his furry mug. “Shit” by Evan Skeledelst with Gavin Lawson is a book directly on the walls of underground tunnels, hidden from the light and exists only in the darkness… The story is a bold combination of graffiti, photography and comic art.It also includes this horrifying issue, “The Gas Station Snack” by Dan Watters and Dani, “The Horse of Hell” by Karen Egan and Gavin Smith, “The Blank I Lived in a Mansion,” and Mudcap Mayhem from Shannon Hochman’s “Robert Huck’s “I Can’t Take You Nowhere”!Hello Darkness #11Covers: Jenny Frison (something kills a child), Mirca Andolfo (mercy), Je Lee and June Chong (Wolverine),…
The great influence of art in Claire’s obscure world cannot be denied: Expedition 33. Expedition 33, a mysterious, gray-haired man called Renoir, reminded me of the famous French painter Pierre Augerste Renoir from the looming presence of “pain,” does the perfect job of showing how art introduces art and how it has acquired it. It takes place in a fictional city called Lumière, and at first glance the world of Expedition 33 looks like an apocalyptic Paris. Oddly, Lumiere’s picturesque scenery feels as if there is a beauty in destruction. In fact, one of the first things we saw was…
