Marvel Comics revealed on August 20th that Godzilla’s solicitation will destroy Marvel Universe #2. In this issue, it appears that the symbiotics will join Godzilla! Released last month, the series was written by Gerry Duggan and portrayed by Javier Garron. Interestingly, this just happened in Godzilla vs. Spider-Man. So, what will Godzilla destroy Marvel Universe #2? The deadly protector becomes a deadly destroyer as Godzilla combines with his symbiotic! When King of the Monster sets to make a Min Set from Manhattan, Earth’s most powerful heroes find reinforcements in the most unlikely places. Will their combined efforts be enough to…
Through his work on Scarlet Witch, Steve Orlando has emphasized the importance of Wanda Maximoff’s connections with others. Her solo series has seen her take on the apprenticeship and reunite with friends, while the Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver series dealt with her and her brother Pietro’s bonds between her broken family. Now Vision and Scarlet Witch #1 return to the biggest bond she has. With her ex-husband and fellow Avenger, Vision. Vision & The Scarlet Witch #1 begins when a series of mysterious black doors begin to appear all over the world. One of these doors appears next to the…
arghhhh!!!I’m disappointed. I really wanted to love this series because I think Sabir Pirzada is a great writer. Marvel and Cult of Carnage: Misery was amazing, so I was excited to pick up this deal. Unfortunately, the spirit of vengeance: vengeance was a complex mess of different stories, well written by Pilzada on a page-by-page basis, but not successful in forming meaningful connective tissues that I want more. It was a fun read, and Pilzada nailed the essence of the character of Fire and Ketch, but it couldn’t stand the hype. Sadly, it appears that the planned sequel series, The…
Zander Cannon’s new horror series, Sleep Issue #1, is a masterclass of the value of slow burns. This debut issue promises a shocking revelation through its concise writing and highly detailed visual storytelling. However, the details do not come from the dense background or hyperrealism. Sleep chooses cartoonish simplicity that betrays the horror that creeps up beneath the surface. The true complexity comes from Canon’s use of almost black and white palettes. Foresight as subtle will require a second read. The comic opens with Jonathan, a boy whose understated nature is certainly a red herring. He goes to church, has…
It’s been more than 60 years since the debut of some of Marvel’s most basic characters. Over these decades, comics have misunderstood (and re-attacked) Bruce Banner’s gamma bomb-like moments, if not thousands. Amazing Initially, these letterings were intended as a gentle reminder, a handy catch-up for readers who don’t have the fortune to read the incredible Hulk #1 (or amazing fantasy #15, etc.). But over time, the constant dark repetition of the same historic moments has become a waste of old, boring, almost precious storytelling real estate. The creative team must find something new to justify their trip to these…
The 2000 AD Prog 2432 saw a new scar-colored trace from the first series. Empire of Blood draws attention to the era between the end of HG Wells’ famous 1898 novel The War of the Worlds and the first series of continuation of fictional comics featuring the British Empire turbulent by Mars technology. Co-creators Ian Esington and Dairael’s Scarlet Trace hold a key position in their partnership, especially in all the series and stories they have worked together (Evil, Leviathan, Stick Look, Helium) – their longest collaboration. Just as Scarlet Traces: Empire of Blood brings us back to the aftermath…
Who is the worst enemy Iron Man has ever faced? Some fans may argue it’s a Mandarin, while others may bid for Obadiah Stane or Justin Hammer. But the best Iron Man story features Tony Stark face-to-face with his own flaws. Armor Wars is forced to agree with the fatal aspect of his genius, and the bottle demon watches him fight alcoholism. Iron Man #8 is not on the level of defining the same characters as these stories, but it provides a solid reminder of this. Part 3 of “Iron Man of the Rebels” sees Tony leaning completely towards creating…
New Gods #6, Ram V, Filipe Andrade and Evan Cagle have so far made the quietest and most meditative issue of the series. For the Andrede part of the book, the readers accompany the black racer, the embodiment of death, and bring the soul to the source. This has so far used unique tones and characters in other segments of this story. It is melancholy, full of hope, vast in a way that makes you, your readers smaller. New Gods #6 is a kind of singular and unexpected storytelling experience you need to separate from a celebratory epic series like…
When discussing the work that entered Thunderbolts: Doomstrike, Jackson Lanzing said the miniseries will be the pinnacle of “Revolution Saga.” “It’s the grand finale of our work on Bucky and we leave it all on the field,” Lantzing said at the time. Thunderbolts: Doomstrike #5 continues to live up to his words. Picking up right after the climax of Thunderbolts:Doomstrike #4, this issue is full of page action as Bucky and his Thunderbolts fight Thunderbolts in the final one showdown. But it answers the question as well: Why does Bucky call himself a “revolution”? As Lanzing and Kelly revealed, it…
