After a powerful debut of balanced spectacles, satire and shocking violence, Godzilla #2 plunges deep into the tangled web of military ambitions, monster myths and body horror of the Kaisei era. If it wasn’t clear after reading the first issue, the second issue goes further to show that IDW has a long game approach in mind for Godzilla. This is very important because so many Godzilla comic projects feel like a one-off and fight the comics. Myth and World Building is now powerful on September 10th. In issue 1, we introduced Jasen and the G-Force. This was a team that…

In this work, we intend to keep our eyes and ears open permanently. But then, sometimes something really special falls on your lap (like a secret gift from the universe, or find $5 in a pair of old jeans). That’s the case of the Trumpet of Death, the debut graphic novel of French cartoonist Simon Bornel Bosson. On the Death Trumpet, he meets Antoine, a boy who is dropped off in his grandparents’ rustic shed while his father is searching for his missing mother. Upon reaching home, Antoine must compete with both warmth and love. But one day, while foraging…

By Sean Manning Ignition Press, a new publisher founded by industry veterans Philip Sabrik and Jamie S. Rich, has made a ecting presence at San Diego Comic-Con to promote the launch title that will arrive in September. Rather than a booth, the Ignition painted offsite gallery to staff, offering free coffee to everyone, and promoting free tickets to the burlesque show and the release titles Voiyur, which he purchased products and comics. It would probably be fitting that the first ever SDCC panel was titled “Make the Manga Different.” However, according to Sablik, Rich and the creators of Panel, anything…
