In this issue, Street Fighter’s world warriors and Darkstalkers’ paranormal beasts must find a way to stop the fight to bring Chicago and its inhabitants back to Earth. Who is pulling the strings behind the scenes? The secret will be revealed!
Udon’s crossover series, Lords of the Makai, feels more and more disjointed the longer it goes on. Is it because of its vast cast, pulled from the vast rosters of not one but two different fighting game series? Probably, but it also doesn’t help that the plot is virtually non-existent, with characters and sequences that seem to come out of nowhere.
Nowhere is this more evident than in the moment when the werewolf John Talbain attacks in one panel, and in the next he takes on fully human form, with no signs of transformation shown or implied.
Still, it looks as gorgeous as we’ve come to expect from Udon, with a more cartoonish and stylized aesthetic that sets it apart from the studio’s usual style. There are also some great and truly satisfying moments where characters announce and use special moves on each other.
This announcement is a bit of a shock, but it pushes us towards the next final issue. Expect an action-packed but equally messy finale. Please wait for my review!
Hello! I’m Jason. I write articles for midlifegamergeek.com every day.
