It’s Day 3 of New York Comic Con and the news continues to arrive from the Javits Center. Lion Forge Entertainment has announced that the hit animated series Iyanu will return for a second season on HBO Max and Cartoon Network in Spring 2026.
“Iyanu” became a worldwide blockbuster. It ranks among the top 10 Kids & Family titles on HBO Max, was #1 in the Kids 6-12 category for the first month of April on Cartoon Network, and remains the #1 Kids & Family title on Showmax in 44 African countries. It’s available to stream in the UK on ITVX and in Australia on ABCiview.
Based on the graphic novel series Iyanu: Child of Wonder by creator, showrunner and executive producer Roy Okupe, the film tells the story of a teenage orphan who discovers his divine powers and destiny to save the ancient kingdom of Yorubaland.
Lion Forge Entertainment has released an exclusive sneak peek clip of Iyanu Season 2. You can see it below. In this clip, Iyanu (voiced by Sera Johnson) and a chosen team face the return of Zaza and the Abyssal People, the most dangerous force in all of Yorubaland, led by the fearsome and charismatic Queen Adura.
But this time, Iyanu is guided by knowledge of the Divine Ones, empowered by new abilities, and trained through training in the Way of the Golden Leaf, a dynamic fighting style inspired by capoeira and taught to him by Olori (voiced by Adesua Etomi-Wellington).
Season 2 returns with 10 new episodes. It follows Iyanu as he continues to master divine powers in the midst of a violent conflict between El and the Deep Peoples, led by the fearsome Adura. As various factions in Yorubaland vie for a powerful sacred artifact that has resurfaced, Iyanu seeks a way to end the conflict and restore peace.
As the chosen team reunites and tensions rise between old allies and enemies, Iyanu must face an even more powerful threat from the Age of Wonders, including secrets hidden deep within his past.
