The Spider-Man and His Venomous Friends panel at New York Comic Con 2025 got a lot of cheers as all the new Spidey and Venomy announcements were made.
Marvel Comics Vice President and Editor-in-Chief Nick Lowe, Senior Editor Jordan D. White, Editor-in-Chief CB Cebulski, and writers Al Ewing, Joe Kelly, Stephanie Phillips, and Charles Soule all joined in on the host mic, spinning layers of web.
The team behind the Webslinger book series has revealed what’s next for Spidey and his friends with a first look at the new Amazing Spider-Man comics series, All-New Spider-Gwen: The Ghost-Spider, and a number of Venom/Symbiote stories. The biggest revelation?

Writer Joe Kelly revealed the story leading up to The Amazing Spider-Man #20, which pretty much set the tone for future issues of the series.
“Last year, we talked about some crazy stuff coming down the pipeline. There’s a Spider-Man in space, there’s a Spider-Man on Earth.”
In the current run, Spider-Man is in space as Peter is lost in space after losing the battle to Hellgate. While Peter tries to find his way home, the panel had the promise of a new character along with the appearance of Rocket Raccoon.
Elsewhere, on Earth, Spider-Man (Norman Osborn) is learning how to deal with the fallout from taking on the mantle. As Peter’s odd-numbered stories and Norman’s even-numbered stories go back and forth, a reused Spider-Slayer and the like appear.
The only element they never accepted was a little preview of what was to come: how all of this would affect and enrage Ben Reilly, the third Spider-Man. January also sees the publication of the new Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1.
All-New Spider-Gwen: Ghost Spider
The wildly popular All-New Spider-Gwen: The Ghost-Spider, written by Stephanie Phillips, highlights Gwen’s love of punk and her desire to form a new punk band in 616.
Panel attendees were able to vote for her new band name by cheering, with the loudest cheer winning. According to the vote, Gwen’s new band will be called Threadbare, with Silk joining as bassist and a new lead singer appearing in issues 5-6. How does Silk learn the bass? YouTube videos.
Part of the story’s appeal lies in Gwen’s suit, as it becomes clear that she will not only be adopting a new costume, but also coming face-to-face with an old symbiote suit named Tantrum. Self-proclaimed greatest enemy. The villain who was once a part of her becomes an enemy who feeds off of Gwen’s inner rage, and her conflict becomes clear.
All news about Venomy
Madame Masque is promised to unleash the full power of AIM against Venom in the next issue #23.
Meanwhile, Charles Soule spoke about what will happen in Eddie Brock: Carnage. He reflected on Eddie’s addiction to needing the symbiote and his blatant martyr syndrome where he feels like he’s the only one who can quell Carnage’s bloodlust, and how all of this is a metaphor for real-life addiction. In one of the most interesting recent Venom stories, Eddie and Carnage only compromised on the promise to kill only serial killers.
All of this leads to the biggest event yet: The Amazing Spider-Man/Venom: Death Spiral nine-part crossover, starting with a one-shot by Joe Kelly and Al Ewing. This arc aims to tie together the stories of Peter, MJ, Eddie, and Venom/Carnage with yet another symbiote crossover.
Meanwhile, Al Ewing announced Queen in Black for summer 2026. Featuring Hela and Knull, he gave us a hint as to what to expect at the panel.
“When you get to Knull and Hela’s level of cosmic power, there will be things that get caught up in the crossover, like the entire Earth.”
