yen Press and Tapas Entertainment have announced the expansion of their existing partnership, this time with the aim of publishing popular light novels from the Yen On imprint.
The first wave of titles to be released this month include The Eminence in Shadow, Overlord, Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World, The Summer When Hikaru Died, and That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. The first five “episodes” of each are free, and new episodes are released daily. Readers can pay to unlock new chapters or wait for free access.
Following the first wave of light novels, more titles will be released every month.
“This is an exciting next step in our partnership with Tapas for us, our creators, and our viewers,” said Yen Press President Kurt Hassler. “This is an opportunity for some of our leading properties to find new readers who already love and use the Tapas site, while existing fans of these series will have another accessible way to read their favorite titles and discover new ones.”
Alex R. Carr, executive director of Tapas Entertainment, added, “At Tapas, we believe there is a significant opportunity to bring novels to readers. Partnering with Yen Press on this initiative ensures not only a rich catalog of stories to delight our readers, but also the level of quality they already expect from the platform. From our perspective, it’s an easy ‘yes’!”
To celebrate the start of the new partnership, Tapas will be hosting the Mega Hit Light Novel Festival, a reading challenge that will reward participants with bonus ink to use on the site. The event period is until October 15th (Wednesday).
