Dynamite Entertainment is set to bring the Christmas spirit all the way into the new year with Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas: The Shiver of Christmas. The miniseries, which will be in comic shops starting in January, is the brainchild of critically acclaimed author Torn Gronbeck and his killer comic book talents.
Over four issues, fans can dive deep into Halloween Town in this spooky and sweet trick-or-treating tale featuring Sally and the mischievous trio of Locke, Shock and Barrel.
According to the official synopsis, “Sally’s creator, the mysterious Dr. Finkelstein, has another creation in the works. When he debuts an unusual but unexpectedly adorable creature as his new pet, Sally is tasked with caring for it. Only three of Halloween Town’s resident trick-or-treaters take it on a journey to Christmas Town.”

Writer Torn Gronbeck (Red Sonja, Thor, Venom) crafts the story for fans of Disney’s Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, following his work on gothic tales like Army of Darkness, Kiss and Alice Cooper, and is joined by artist Edu Mena. Colorist Adriano Augusto and letterer Taylor Esposito round out the team.
“The Nightmare Before Christmas, directed by Disney’s Tim Burton, is a feast of imagination and dark fun, and it was a joy to play in and contribute to this world,” Gronbeck said in a statement. “In our story, very little goes as planned. Tricks are done, treats are eaten, and in the process, Dr. Finkelstein’s new book Shiver discovers the true magic of Halloween. Artist Edu Mena captures the film’s gothic, whimsical atmosphere so beautifully. We hope this book will introduce a new generation of readers to the enchanting world of Disney’s Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.”
Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas recreates the world of Disney and Batman, with superstar artists such as Jay Lee, Su Li and Alan Quar contributing variant covers. Fans will also get a special version of each issue featuring art from the movie.
Disney Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas: Shivers in Christmas Town follows the release of the blockbuster Hail the Pumpkin Graphic Novel, a fan-friendly adaptation of the best-selling novel in comic book form. This continues its work with the Dynamite franchise and its partnership with Disney in comics.
