Star Trek was this year’s San Diego Comic-Con with a huge presence, including Star Trek: Strange New World and Star Trek: Star Fleet Academy. It’s correct that the con artist closed on a trek. It contains Star Trek: the next frontier panel.
IDW Publishing is taking advantage of the following frontiers to promote a new line of Star Trek Books featuring a range of creators: These are authors: Christopher Cantwell, Susan & Tilly Bridges, Tim Sheridan, Robbie Thompson, Travis Mercer, Colin Kelly & Jackson Runtzing. The panel was moderated by trekking editor Heather Antos.
The first was written by Star Trek: Redshirt, Cantwell, with Megan Rebel. “We wanted to focus the series entirely on the red shirt,” Cantwell said. Set in the era of Star Trek: The Original series, it follows 12 Starfleet security guards trapped on a lonely planet. “You’ll see many of them die gloriously,” Cantwell said. He also revealed that he will connect with Star Trek: Defiant Run and Lanzing & Kelly’s Star Trek Run. He also only praised Leben, especially for how she was able to balance fear and humor.
Next up is Star Trek: Lower Deck, where Sheridan took over from Ryan North. “What a lot of people don’t know about me is that I wrote a comedy!” Sheridan said she revealed her previous career writing an episode of Justice League Action. He gets on the deck below after meeting Antos in a scam and says it is his favorite trekking. “There’s an opportunity to refer to everything about the trekking canon in all the best ways,” Sheridan added, noting that future issues will pay homage to the low deck and past seasons of Star Trek IV. Promoting low deck connections is Phil Murphy, who works on the series and explains the issue. But the best news is that lower decks continue with six more issues! In addition to telling a singular story, Sheridan also addresses the question Trekki probably asked: How does Starfleet deal with dentistry?
Thompson and Mercer tackle Star Trek: A strange new world – the seeds of salvation. It takes place between seasons 3 and 4 of the Strange New World, thrusts the Enterprise crew into a lovecraft horror story. “I was told I can’t kill a Legacy character, but I’m trying my best,” joked Thompson. He also said that Christine Chapel will play a major role in the seed of salvation, and that Spock will acquire new friends in the form of emotionally developed robots. Antos called it “Brobot”. Mercer said it was difficult to move from drawing superheroes to science fiction, but he admitted that he loved drawing chapels.
Bridge is working on Star Trek: Voyager – Homecoming, drawn by Angel Hernandez, which picks up shortly after the Voyager finale and serves as a celebration of Voyager’s 30th anniversary. “It’s great to play in the sandbox with all these characters.” Seven of the nine gain a big focus and explore what turns her into a character fan she met in Star Trek: Picard. Hernandez received many praise for his ability to convey emotions and capture character portraits.
Finally, Lanzing & Kelly discussed the upcoming Star Trek: The Last Starship. They said they were inspired by seeing images of the teenage mutant ninja turtles. Finally, Ronin asks, “How do you do the Star Trek version?” Kelly added that the final spaceship reveals the story of the burn. This is a cataclysmic event hinted at in Star Trek: Discovery. “It’s a story about how you keep your hopes and grips with motivation. How do you embrace that core at the end of everything when you’re completely alone?” The biggest obvious thing was that James T. Kirk would be revived in the final spaceship, but it’s not just a shot of nostalgia. “Whatever we think we’re doing at Kirk, it’s not playing a lot of hits,” Lantzing said. “We looked at the history of trekking and said, ‘Who is the most injured in burns?’ Kirk stood out. ”
