At a panel discussion held today at Lucasfilm Publishing NYCC, author Marc Guggenheim announced his first in-progress Star Wars comic. Star Wars: Jedi Knight is scheduled to be released in March next year. “We’re really getting serious with this issue,” Guggenheim said of the series, which introduces different Jedi groupings in each standalone issue.
Episode 1 – takes place before the events of The Phantom Menace and features beloved Jedi like Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn, as well as deep cuts like Yaddle. Brand new Jedi are introduced, including one of Star Wars’ first disabled Jedi.
One issue even features a splash page full of what Guggenheim describes as “the monster equivalent of Star Wars.” Speaking of splash pages, the first issue opens with a bang, with a few variant covers, as seen below.
