You can finish working on a Street Fighter character in one day.
All kidding aside, this volume went a little off the rails for me. Considering how shitty the previous volume was and how much I still enjoyed it, this is really saying something.
The problem I had with this Street Fighter problem set was that it felt a bit repetitive. A lot of what happened was already done in the previous series, Super Street Fighter, and it feels like not much is going on here.
It’s still action-packed and absolutely gorgeous to watch, and the bonus round shorts between each issue are great, but I have to say the whole Gil plot, coupled with Ryu still battling the dark side, left me with chills. I don’t get it. After his victory in the first Street Fighter series, poor Ryu feels like he has nothing to do and no interesting places to go. Having fulfilled his mission to avenge his master, he has been spinning his wheels ever since.
Let’s hope things get better in Volume 2.
