Marvel Comics has previewed Armageddon, an event storyline written by Chip Zdarsky, which will be released in June 2026. Described as a cosmic-scale event that will reshape the Avengers in a way not seen since Disassembled (a 2004 crossover that launched Brian Michael Bendis’ comics run), the series will build on Zdarsky and Valerio City’s Captain America work and Ultimate. Spider-Man: Incursion features teaser art that reveals a new Ultimate Universe Origin Box.
For those unfamiliar, the Origin Box was created by the new Ultimate Tony Stark to give superpowers to heroes who were prevented from gaining them by the Maker (the evil time-traveling Reed Richards from the original Ultimate Universe). Miles Morales brought the most dangerous Origin Boxes into the main Marvel Universe in the fifth and final issue of Incursion, hoping that the Avengers would figure out what to do with them, but it looks like it’ll be a decision he soon regrets.
The series will be Zdarsky’s second event story for Marvel, following 2022’s Daredevil-centric crossover Devil’s Reign. Meanwhile, The Will of Doom, a one-shot by the author and CAFU that bridges the gap between this year’s One World Under Doom (ending with issue 9 on November 19) and Armageddon, will be released on December 24, and the second chapter of Zdarsky’s Captain America, featuring art by Frank Alpizar and Delio Diaz Cespedes, will explore the aftermath of Doom’s disappearance starting with the issue. #6 on January 21st.
Additionally, the rebooted Ultimate Universe will conclude with Ultimate Endgame, a five-part series that begins on December 31st, and Jed McKay’s Avengers run will conclude with issue #34 (Legacy #800), published on January 14th. Details of the latter, which will likely be restarted to coincide with Armageddon, and details of the event itself are currently unknown, but a few things are certain. The universe isn’t over yet. As Zdarsky previously promised, “Destiny always has a plan…”
