Threads has new features that allow users to remix posts from other people a little more creatively. The app now has a “markup” tool that allows users to doodle on top of posts they want to reshare, Adam Mosseri shared in a post.
The markup feature appears in the quote and repost menus. But instead of just quoting a post, it launches an editing tool that lets you add highlights, arrows, or doodles on top of the post’s screenshot. Mosseri said the feature is intended to “allow people to add some creativity” to their posts, but the tools are currently quite limited. You can only add yellow highlights or red arrows and doodles, but Mosseri said there are “many more features coming” from Meta.
A Threads spokesperson confirmed that the feature works similarly to quoting a post, in that if someone chooses to mark up their post, the original user will receive a notification. . You can also disable markup on your posts using the “Who can reply and quote” setting.
The app also formalizes two other features that have already been previewed: post scheduling and analytics. This feature could be particularly useful for brands, creators, and others who manage a professional presence on their sites, which so far lacks many of the more advanced business-centric tools found on Meta’s other platforms. There is. Both could come in handy if Meta starts introducing ads to Threads, which are reportedly in the works for early 2025.
