The Marvel: The Next Big Thing panel held at New York Comic Con on Thursday featured X-Men editor Tom Brevoort, Jean Gray screenwriter Stephanie Phillips, and the newly announced Ultimate Chris Condon, the screenwriter of “The Wolverine,” Ryan North, the screenwriter of “Fantastic Four,” and the editor-in-chief were on stage. Chief CB Cebulski met to discuss the future of the Marvel Universe.
At the end of the Q&A panel, I approached the microphone and asked Cebulski if there were any plans to include the X-Men in a 6″ x 9″ book in the newly announced Premiere Collection. Marvel’s editor-in-chief confirmed that the company also plans to release X-Men books in this format after the first of four titles.
Other topics discussed and presented include:

ultimate wolverine
Ultimate Wolverine #1 Variant Cover by Steve Skroce
As reported earlier in the day, ULTIMATE WOLVERINE was unveiled with a panel featuring a new design by Alessandro Cappuccio. In this storyline, written by up-and-coming star writer Chris Condon, Wolverine is used as the Winter Soldier, along with Councilors Magic, Colossus, and Omega Red, to serve as personal assassins to The Maker. I am. The preview page revealed some uncolored pages that were very black and white with occasional hints of blood red. Silhouettes are also used a lot, marking a dark new beginning for one of the line’s popular heroes.
“When Will Moss called me and asked me if I wanted to challenge for this title, I jumped at the chance and immediately knew what to do with it,” Condon said. “I’m bringing the essence of storytelling from ‘The Texas Blood’ to the Marvel Universe with Wolverine, looking back and bringing us something new.”
“You may notice that there is a red star on his costume and you may wonder why,” he continued. “If you look at that mask, he has a muzzle on it. That’s because he’s wild.”
Phoenix #8
The new Phoenix series continues this February and we’ll soon see some pretty epic battles as the fight against Perix continues. The series, written by Stephen Phillips and illustrated by Marco Renna, has several major battles planned that will not only feature Gor now, but also Thanos starting in February 2025.
This will be the long-anticipated first matchup between Phoenix and Sano. Perhaps the biggest takeaway from the panel was the belief that Phoenix will transform into something new.
“Gene is going to cocoon,” Phillips revealed during a panel discussion. “The Phoenix is about to transform into something new. A new queen of the universe.”
X-Men
The panel then moved on to discuss the upcoming X-Men crossover, The Raid on Graymalkin. This is a four-issue crossover event that connects X-Men #8 and #9 and Uncanny X-Men #7 and #8, with the team returning to Greymalkin Prison, formerly Xavier Academy.
time slide
Instead of a traditional Marvel timeless preview, this line sees Cable and Bishop, two time-traveling bad friends, jump through timelines in a special preview of what’s to come this year. It progresses in a time-slide storyline. The series, written by Steve Fox and illustrated by Ivan Fiorelli, will feature a teaser of a story set in 2025 and will be Marvel’s final comic of the year, hitting stores in December.

one world under doom

Finally, Editor-in-Chief CB Cebulski, Vice President and Editor-in-Chief Tom Brevoort, and Fantastic Four screenwriter Ryan North revealed information about ONE WORLD UNDER DOOM. Fantastic Four #28 serves as a prelude to the story in which Reed Richards wants to break into the magical dome where Doom has hidden himself and asks for the Black Knight to help him break in.
“ONE WORLD UNDER DOOM” is a spin-off from Blood Hunt, where Doctor Doom manipulates Doctor Strange into giving him the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme, and depicts Doom conquering the entire world. The series is set to be an action-packed game that changes the Marvel universe, with a series of tie-in series and one-shots.
February begins with RISE OF EMPEROR DOOM, a five-issue series written by Ryan North and illustrated by RB Silva, the acclaimed author of Powers of X and Rise of the Powers of X. Masu. The following is the premise of what is bound to happen:
Six months ago, Doctor Victor von Doom became the Sorcerer Supreme, before disappearing behind Latveria’s closed borders. For most people, there’s so much going on in the world that Doom’s absence isn’t a priority, and the time without Doom can feel like a blessing. Only a few realize it for what it really is: the calm before the storm. A storm is coming now. The world has woken up to a new reality. Earth’s supreme sorcerer, Doctor Doom, has magically taken over all broadcast media on Earth and declared himself Emperor of the World, ruler of the new united Latveria. And amazingly, improbably, all of Earth’s leaders seem to agree on this. Fortunately, whatever is affecting them, be it mind control or Doombots, has no effect on Earth’s heroes, so they quickly set out to thwart Doom’s plot. Assemble an attack team. But will they succeed? And what happens when some people begin to welcome the new emperor with open arms and cry out for the unification of a doomed world?
“ONE WORLD UNDER ROOM is that umbrella that impacts not just RISE OF EMPEROR DOOM, but the entire Marvel Universe,” Brevoort explained. “The Avengers, Spider-Man, and more…Doom will impact every corner of the universe in 2025.”
“In ONE WORLD UNDER DOOM, we see Doctor Doom come out of[Latveria]and conquer the world overnight,” North said. “Every country is a unified state of Latveria and everyone responds to Doom and he’s going to make some changes… He’s going to show the world that he’s the greatest at what he does. It may not be great for people who aren’t named Victor von Doom.
And with the exception of some of the cover, that was pretty much all that was on the panel. All participants were given a special Emperor Doom version of Fantastic Four #13.
