On July 10th, Webtoon announced a major change in its North American entertainment business, officially rebranding Wattpad Webtoon Studios as Wettoon Productions. The move comes with a new name, fresh logo and an updated leadership structure aimed at expanding global IP and production efforts.
David Madden has been promoted to President of Webtoon Productions, with Maximilian Jo intervening as vice president and head of strategy for the company’s global IP business team. Additionally, Tina McIntyre has been appointed head of the newly created consumer goods division. All three report to Yongsoo Kim, Chief Strategy Officer at Webtoon Entertainment and Head of Global Webtoon.
“The brand of this brand demonstrates our commitment to deliver world-class content and expanding the scope of creator-driven IP,” Kim said. “Webtoon has become a cultural staple for Gen Z, and our new identity reflects the strength of our global brand, partnerships across Hollywood, and the mission to bring even more adaptations to our audience.”
For example, Webtoon has recently partnered with Dark Horse.
