Uber Eats is adding a social element to ordering delivery tacos in the form of curated lists. Garden Variety users can create one of these lists in the (Account) tab and get menu items from their favorite local stores.
All lists are shareable by default, so users can send the list to friends and family. I don’t want other people to know about the embarrassing foods I eat while watching endless episodes of Frasier, but maybe that’s just me.
This can actually prove useful in certain scenarios, such as when you’re in bed sick and want someone else to do your takeout. Just share the list with your friends and family. Uber Eats also said that certain listings will be featured on the home feed and the creator could become a local food influencer for that day.
When it comes to food influencers, the app also features a curated list of pseudo-celebrities. Uber Eats is touting early participants including Sam Roby of the Chicago Food Authority, Ella Kahan of Chew York and Emma Matarasso. It remains to be seen how this will work in smaller markets.
Uber Eats has been making changes here and there lately. The platform recently started offering fresh produce from farmers’ markets in select cities. The company is also experimenting with driverless delivery vehicles.
