Courtesy of Ahoy Comics, AIPT can share the main cover of its new limited series, Tristan Wright, scheduled for September this year, with Toxic Crusaders. The 5th issue series was written by Matt Bose. Matt Bose has been widely praised for his recent revival of the comic’s toxic Avenger and features Tristan Wright’s art.

“In the aftermath of the chemical spill that produced toxy, other mutants were born, and they united in a war against foreign conspiracies,” said writer Matt Bose. “We’re taking everything from the original toxic crusades cartoons: Gross mutations, evil aliens and over-the-top ecological behavior to make our readers a must-read mutant each month.”

So who’s on the toxic crusades?

The toxic Avenger of Troma Entertainment’s fame is featured alongside fellow mutants, zones, junk, catastrophes and all-new character fangirls.

(Date) Join us in the rebirth of the sensations of the biggest and roughest animated series of all time: Toxic Crusaders, an all-new limited comic book series that will be appearing this September, features the fame of Troma Entertainment along with fellow mutants, junkyards, major disasters, and all-new character Fungirl. The acclaimed Syracuse-based comic book publisher, Ahoy Comics’ fifth issue series is written by NIB founder and two-time Pulitzer Award finalist Matt Bors.

In addition to the main cover of series artist Tristan Wright, Toxic Crusaders features exclusive trading card variants, variant covers from Ar Sullivan, and special Retroware Game Art variant covers by Xander Arnot, celebrating the highly anticipated, highly anticipated Toxic Crusaders game. Issue #1 of Toxic Crusaders lands in the store on September 10th and gets hot right after the all-new Toxic Avenger film starring Peter Dinklage, who hits theatre on Labor Day weekend.

“Look at the movies. Read the comics. Play the game. It’s like the 90s didn’t end!” said Xander Arnot, variant cover artist and Litower art director. “If you had the time to love the toxic Avenger, or his colorful crew of his superhuman crusades, it’s now!”

Ahoy Comics’ toxic, chaotic summer plans are in full swing after it was published in bookstores in April with Toxic Avenger (TPB) and in May with Toxic Avenger Pinup Special. Toxie Team-Up will be released in June, rubbing his elbows with a character from many other fan favorite Ahoy titles, followed by Toxic Avenger Comics #1, the first series in a whole new ongoing series at Comic Shops in July. It all comes down to the action-packed, toxic crusades, beating the video games from Ritroware, and the highly anticipated theatrical release of the toxic Avenger film starring Peter Dinklege as Toxie on Labor Day weekend, as well as the toxic crusades launch in September.

The Toxic Avenger first appeared in the 1984 cult classic film about a mutated weakening that wiped away corporate turmoil, directed by Lloyd Kaufmann and Michael Hertz and starring Mitchell Cohen. Already producing five movies, comics, action figures, musicals and Marvel Comic Book series, The Toxic Avenger is a pop culture icon. He is also perfect for Ahoy Comics, a Syracuse-based publisher specializing in satirizing stories of horror, space opera, social satire, Sword & Sawkelly and Super Hero.

“Everyone at Ahoy Comics is pleased to publish a group of world-renowned characters who are as well-intentioned, violent and candidly disgusting as we ourselves would like,” said Tom Peyer of Ahoy Comics Editor-in-Chief. “We are also pleased to debut the work of talented artist Tristan Wright. Matt has found some of Tristan’s work online and shared it with me.

Toxic Crusades #1 will land in the comic shop on September 10th, 2025. Meanwhile, the first issue of the Toxie Team Up Series was released on June 11, 2025, followed by Toxic Avenger Comics #1 on July 9, 2025.
