One of Spider-Man’s most legendary writers is back to action this fall. J. Michael Straczynski is the acclaimed heart behind one of the most beloved orchids in Amazing Spider-Man history, and is back in Amazing Spider-Man: Torn, the brand new Five-Issue Limited series released this October.
Straczynski works with fan favorite artist Pere Perez (TVA, Venom War: Carnage) to tell the story of returning readers to Empire State’s Peter Parker’s college days. Starring from Gwen Stacy, Harry Osborn, MJ and Flash Thompson are classic villains and an entirely new threat that could sway the Marvel universe to its core.
Longtime fans have hoped that JMS would return to Spidey for years, but Torn offers something fresh. It’s a fascinating new chapter that dives deep into unexplored parts of Peter’s past.
“JMS wrote some of my favorite Spidey issues,” said Nick Lowe, editor of Spider-Man. “When he said he wanted to go back, I was already jumping on the opportunity and twisting my ankle in the process! And teaming him up with one of the comic’s most inventive artists, Pere Perez. We’re incredibly lucky.”
Perez said, “As a huge fan of Spider-Man and JMS, it was a dream to work on this book. The action scenes are explosive to portray, but it’s the emotional moments and character dialogue that surprise me the most.
Don’t miss out on Amazing Spider-Man: Torn’s debut on October 8th, 2025. This series features an stunning main cover from Adam Hughes. Pre-order now at your local comic shop!
