Today at New York Comic Con, Dynamite Entertainment announced the next phase of the ThunderCats comics. In January, the publisher plans to release ThunderCats Lost in Time, a one-shot from Dynamite Entertainment and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, based on a book by Ed Brisson and Chris Campana.

Alongside Declan Shalvey, who sparked the recent resurgence as a writer for ThunderCats’ flagship titles, screenwriter Brisson (New Mutants, Predator) has been a major contributor to the dynamite era of ThunderCats stories. In ThunderCats Lost and SilverHawks, as well as a series of specials including Apex, Pumyra, Panthro, and the upcoming Ho!(liday) Special, he has worked to build the mythology and lay the foundation for future stories. Maybe literally, considering his next project is called Lost in Time!

You can see all the announced covers below.

According to the official synopsis, “ThunderCats The core team of Lost find themselves torn from Third Earth into a distant future, a haunting dystopian vision of their own world, a broken planet cobbled together from the ruins of their former homeland. This eerie future is ruled by a police state that has “outlawed cats to extinction and is completely overrun by mysterious automatons”. It’s up to Ligon, Lynx, Neko, Pumila, and the mysterious exiles to find out what’s going on, can they find a way home, and how to prevent this dark future from happening! ”

Brisson will be joined by artist Chris Campana, a veteran of GI Joe, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Red Sonja, Vampirella, Lady Death, Pathfinder, and more. The duo is laying the groundwork for big developments for ThunderCats comics as 2026 approaches, making Lost in Time an important prelude and stepping stone to their next work.

“I’ve been looking forward to writing this issue for a long time,” Brisson said. “What is revealed in this one-shot will shock the entire ThunderCats comic universe. I cannot overstate the ripple effect this book will have. The team will be forced to learn about and make peace with their history, while also being forced to make one of the most difficult decisions they’ve ever had to face: sacrificing the individual for the greater good.”

The next chapter in Dynamite’s ongoing ThunderCats mythos arrives in comic shops from your favorite retailers in mystery blind bags. Inside each bag, fans can include four covers featuring unique artwork by top artists Declan Shalvey, Enid Balham, Alessandro Ranaldi and Cat Staggs. It’s also possible that rarer variations of these four works will be pulled, such as trade dress free “virgins” or line art variations.
