Threads is rolling out a take on Bluesky’s starter pack concept. Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri’s post about the update explains that when users start following a topic, a collection of recommended profiles will be suggested to them as part of their For You feed.
Interestingly, Threads doesn’t seem to have a name for this feature. But this isn’t the first time Threads has adapted an idea from rival platform Bluesky. Custom Feeds was the last concept from Bluesky to go through a short testing phase and make it to official release on the Meta-owned social network.
Bluesky recognizes that many of its features are starting to appear on threads. Last month, when Meta’s platform first announced it would have its own take on Starter Packs, the company made a post on its Threads account criticizing its competitors. The two platforms have been competing to woo disgruntled former users of X (formerly known as Twitter). Bluesky reached 20 million users in November, while Threads reported 35 million sign-ups that month alone.
